Robert Pattinson Disses 'Twilight': Yay or Nay?
"Twilight's" lead star, Robert Pattinson should only have great things to say about his first ever break out role that garnered him hoards of fans but it's not likely the case for the heartthrob. A few sources claim that "Twilight" didn't appeal to the 24-year old actor. How true are the rumors?
Robert Pattinson has gone a long way. He first broke out into the scene as Cedric Diggory in the world renowned magical franchise, "Harry Potter", before making his own name in the film "Little Ashes." Before he wooed hearts in the vampire flick, "Twilight", Robert played the role of a distraught and emotionally disturbed male in the film, "Remember Me."
Though it was all thanks to "Twilight" which gave him the spotlight and thrust him to the top of Forbes list, Robert was not at all into the film during the first films. How so? Pattinson reveals all this and even more on his upcoming flick, "Bel Ami" in an interview with the Italian Vanity Fair.
"When I first read [the Twilight script], it didn't appeal to me," says Robert.
"I couldn't understand what was so special and why everybody was so into it." added the actor.
However, seeing the fame of the film and not to mention "Twi-hard" fans that are ready to throw themselves at Pattinson, it's not hard to see that the role of Edward Cullen has grown on Pattinson. O
f course with the "Twilight" series nearing its' finale this year, Robert who is quite a talented actor is in need of far greater roles and the opportunity presented itself at an appropriate time.
"Doing something like Twilight opens doors and it closes others. You can say, 'Oh, if I was still unknown, then no one would judge me,'" explains Pattinson. "But at the same time, nobody would give a s--t either. It's a weird little balance."
Moving on with "Twilight", Pattinson is up to star in the flick, "Bel Ami" alongside a few lovely Hollywood gals namely Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas. Eager to shed his brooding vampire role, Pattinson reveals that it wasn't only the role that appealed to him but what was required of his character in the movie.
"There is something quite fun about going from Edward Cullen to playing a guy who pretty much abuses women to get money out of them. Edward so wouldn't approve," shares Robert.
Fans of Robert will have to wait until March to catch their Cullen in bed with a few other women who are nowhere close to resembling Bella Swan.
