'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' theory: The identity of the mysterious cloaked figure
A previously released trailer of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” showed a cloaked figure from the back approaching a Bacta Tank that is used for healing. A new theory about this scene looks at who this mysterious character is.
[Spoiler alert]
A theory posted on the YouTube channel of Mike Zeroh looks at the possible identity of this cloaked figure. According to Mike there are two possibilities. The scene showed a cloaked figure entering a dark chamber that has a Bacta Tank in the centre, and is being guarded by two soldiers in red gowns, who are the Emperor’s Royal Guard.
According to Mike one possibility is that this character is Darth Maul. The Sith Lord was cut in half in the prequel trilogy, but given his popularity in the fan base he came back in the animation TV series, so the character may still be alive in the timeline of the upcoming film.
According to Mike it will be “amazing” to see Darth Maul in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The theory suggests that if the Sith Lord is featured in the movie his appearance will be very brief, but it will be a great way to setup the character for his own spin-off Anthology.
The other more interesting theory is that the one in the cloak is Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) in disguise as the Emperor. In the movie she could get an opportunity to kill Darth Vader (voice by James Earl Jones) while he is in the Bacta Tank.
Mike suggests that this Bacta Tank scene will be at the very ending of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Will Jyn get an opportunity to strike at the one character who could bring down the Empire with him? But, Mike believes it is more likely that it is Darth Maul making a cameo appearance here.
