‘Ronda Rousey Could Beat 50% of Male Bantamweight Fighters’ – Joe Rogan
Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, commentator Joe Rogan not only thinks women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is heads and shoulder above her competition but believes she can easily dispose 50% of the male bantamweight talent in the UFC. The analyst recently appeared in the “Dan Lebatard Show” and acknowledged that his scenario will never happen but it would not be impossible to posit that Rousey could knock off most of the men in the bantamweight class.
"There's a lot of guys her size she could beat," Rogan said to Lebatard. "I mean, a lot. If you took the roster of the UFC's bantamweights, 135 pounds, and you paired them up against Ronda Rousey, she might be able to beat 50 percent of them. That's not a joke."
Rousey was again dominant in her latest title defence against Cat Zingano in UFC 184. With the title on the line, “Rowdy” set another record with the quickest win in title defence history by disposing the number 2 ranked women’s bantamweight fighter in the Unified Women’s MMA Rankings. At the get-go, Zingano rushed towards Rousey with a flying knee which the champion anticipated and countered with a right arm lock. What transpired next was a blur as Zingano quickly tapped out and cursed off expletives in disbelief after the fight was over before she has even shown any game plan.
During the press conference, even UFC President Dana White joked that since he is running out of options to pair with the queen of the UFC, he might just set her up against some of the male talent of the outfit. Nevertheless, a number of women candidates such as Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, Bethe Correia and Cristiane ‘Cyborg” Justino have all expressed their willingness to wrest the belt from the reigning champion.
Among the list, the most intriguing match-up proves to be the Justino challenge given that the Invicta FC talent has long been zoning in on a super-fight with Rousey. “The Entourage” and “Fast and the Furious” movie star expressed no qualms about facing any of the fighters but has had some reservations with Justino because of her history with performance enhancing drugs.
