'The Royals' TV Series: Joan Collins Talks About Her Role As The Queen Mother
This week’s episode of the brand new E! Channel TV series “The Royals” welcomed the presence of Joan Collins who stars as the Grand Duchess Alexandra. She is the Queen Mother and plays the manipulating mom of Queen Helena played by British actress Elizabeth Hurley.
The Grand Duchess appeared right when Queen Helena was just about to lose control of nearly everything in her life. Her kids hate her and are acting out, Her true love is off-limits and her husband is making a move to eradicate the life that she worked so hard to build.
Joan Collins spoke to E! Online about her character and how much she loves playing her. She explains that she found the project interesting from the first moment she heard about it. The “Dynasty” legend said that playing the Queen Mother in this fictional Royal Family is a great role.
“The character that I’m playing is actually the one in control” says Collins. In fact, the Queen Mother said the same thing to her daughter in the show. She reminded Queen Helena how her mother found a way to put her on the throne beside King Simon.
She has seen that Helena is losing control of everything so she decided to come and put her daughter in her place once again and remind her of what she needs to do. She told the Queen to put her house in order and not to let her feelings get in the way of running her empire.
For real-life women however, Collins shared a different kind of advise. Also in the report by E Online, the veteran actress tells her fans that they should put all the bad things in their life behind them. She wants all the negativity hidden and forgotten in the cellar in order to move on and reach for success.
How things work out for Queen Helena, the Queen Mother and the rest of the family will unfold in the next episode. Things are looking bleak now that a referendum is being passed to abolish the Royal Family but perhaps the Queen Mother will be able to help her daughter iron things out. ”The Royals” airs every Sunday at 10 pm on E.
