Rumoured Sony Xperia Z6 release: early half of 2016 or later?
It’s unlikely for a tech giant to introduce products every six months
Sony recently released the Xperia Z5 and if rumours are true, the Xperia Z6 could be unveiled -- but later rather than sooner. That’s because there’s been no confirmation on the release of the new phone, which may occur in early 2016 or later in the year.
The new flagship model is scheduled for release in early half of 2016, claims Latinos Health. Several other reports doing the rounds hint at the mobile’s launch at the Mobile World Congress next year.
PC Advisor contradicted reports of an early release, saying it’s unlikely for a tech giant to introduce products every six months since that would spoil customer interest.
As for now, the flagship is scheduled for release anytime between February 22 and February 25, which suggests a six month gap from IFA in 2015, reports Christian Post. A plan to postpone the release to the second half of 2016 might help sustain customer interests and curiosity.
Sony Art Director Rikke Gertsen Constein said in a recent interview the company is working on a release date in the second half of 2016, probably sometime in September during IFA 2016.
The imminent Z6 boasts of features that set it apart from its predecessors: Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium. Purported specs show the new flagship will carry Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, the next-gen chipset. It will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the OS.
Furthermore, the device will have a display size of 5.2-inches or 5.3-inches fitted with a Triluminous LED display powered with 2K resolution, reports Xperia Sony. It will have a custom built and an in-built 64-bit application processor core called Kryo.
Besides, there are reports the Z6 will have better graphics technology defined by its Adreno graphics processor. Among its other features, the most significant ones are 4 GB of RAM, a USB Type C Port and expandable storage capacity with MicroSDcard.
