Ryan Phillippe is said to be the latest actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for an undisclosed TV project. The actor said he was approached by Marvel to star in a Netflix series but didn’t reveal specific details about his discussion with the studio.

Ryan Phillippe was asked during a guest appearance at the Howard Stern Show what his next plans are after his one-year contract with ABC's crime-drama “Secret & Lies” ends. According to Galactic News One, the actor has received good feedback for his role in the film that he’s becoming a hit, so it’s no question that he would be asked for his next plans considering he will become a “free agent” following the end of his contract.

The actor was asked during the radio show if anyone has approached him for any role in a TV series or film project. At this the actor chuckled and replied, “I’m meeting with Marvel, is interested in talking about a Netflix series possibly like the 'Daredevil' series.” During the interview, the actor also recalled having almost landed the role of Harvey Dent in the 2008 Batman film “The Dark Knight.” However, his kids were at that time his main concern, so the role went to Aaron Eckhart instead.

According to Cinema Blend, Ryan Phillippe can still play either a superhero or a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In relation to his possible “Daredevil” casting, the actor has been rumoured to play Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist. The latter is said to be the only character left uncast in the Netflix series.

Portraying the role of Iron Fist is said to be the most probable option for Ryan Phillippe. IMDB has listed an Iron Fist mini-series for a 2015 release in Netflix. However, as per Cinema Blend, Marvel is likely going to have the Iron Fist TV series put out in early 2016 or early 2017.

Moreover, Ryan Philippe supposedly already physically resembles the martial artist Danny Rand in the comics. Added to the actor’s credentials, which give him an edge to playing Iron Fist, is his black belt in tae kwon do.
