Sabrina Carpenter’s music video gives ‘Girl Meets World’ nostalgia
“Girl Meets World” has been cancelled in Disney Channel but fans are delighted to see actress Sabrina Carpenter (Maya) pursue her singing career. The music video for her song “Thumbs” has just dropped and it is giving fans some serious “Girl Meets World” nostalgia. It shows a dance party shot in the same subway set used in the series.
Fans of “Girl Meets World” would remember the subway as a special place. It was where Maya and her best friend, Riley (Rowan Blanchard), would discuss about life while riding home from school. It is also the same place where Maya and Josh (Uriah Shelton) had a heart to heart talk. Moreover, Riley and Lucas (Peyton Meyer) have first met in the subway.
In the music video for “Thumbs,” Carpenter hosts a subway dance party. She was seen shaking passengers out of their mundane routines and urges them to look at things from a different perspective. The music clip happens in one nonstop shot, as it follows the “Girl Meets World” star and her fellow subway revellers around.
The clip was live especially when she sings the line "That's just the way of the world." She is sporting an all-black outfit with some pretty tough boots and a choker in the music video.
“Thumbs” is part of Carpenter's latest album, “EVOLution.” The album was released by Hollywood Records in 2016. It also produced the single, “On Purpose.”
Aside from his role as Maya in “Girl Meets World,” Carpenter also had a recurring role as the young version of Chloe Goodwin in “The Goodwin Games.” She is also a singer and songwriter and has signed with Hollywood Records.
The actress has also been busy with her first tour, the “Evolution Tour.” Some of her most popular songs are “Christmas the Whole Year Round” and “Smoke and Fire.”
In “Girl Meets World,” Carpenter plays Riley’s best friend. Riley is the daughter of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) from “Boy Meets World.” The show has followed Maya and Riley as they faced the stage of adolescence and met friends along the way.
“Girl Meets World” co-creator Michael Jacobs said he is having talks with other networks for the show to be picked up. It is expected that the show’s fate will be known in the near future.
Shall the series find it saviour, Carpenter will likely be back. Jacobs is confident that the cast will be on board. “Girl Meets World” aired in Australia through Disney Channel.
