Safely update Marshmallow to OnePlus with PACMAN custom ROM
The custom ROM eliminates additional customization options
OnePlus fans can now update their devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow via PACMAN custom ROM. Being an experimental version, PACMAN has bugs that need to be mitigated before continuing with the installation process.
The custom ROM is compiled from the PAC ROM github and eliminates additional customization options. So far, there’s been no complaints about bugs but to be on safe side, sync your computer with your mobile and pre-install PACMAN ROM to avoid glitches, reports Neuro Gadget.
There are more ways to avoid virus infiltration in your device while installing custom ROM. These include installing PACMAN custom ROM only on OnePlus One models or the Bacon series. If tested on other devices, PACMAN can hamper the device software. Before installing, check if the Bootloader is unlocked. If not, unlock it before you initiate the process.
Custom ROM improves UI and device performance but there’s a company warranty attached to it. You can start installing after cleaning the device memory and so it’s advisable to backup all data by means of TWRP or by Clockwork Mod Recovery, reports ibtimes.co.in.
Use USB drivers to sync between your mobile and PC, and make sure your handset is adequately charged so it doesn’t shutdown in between installation. While installing, follow the steps below:
Download Marshmallow OS PACMAN ROM and Gapps zip file onto your computer. Then, copy the same and paste it onto your OnePLus device connected to the PC. Boot the device to recovery mode and then select ‘install zip from sdcard’ from the recovery menu.
Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow PACMAN ROM from where’s it’s saved in your device. Follow the same procedures with the Gapps zip file and after you have installed, reboot your system by selecting ‘reboot system now’ from the recovery menu.
