Samsung 12" Tablet Will Be Coming this October, Korean Tech Giant Ready to Take Out Nexus 7 and Apple's iPad?
Samsung continues to work on computing devices to dominate different parts of the industry. This time, the Korean tech giant has its sights set on the tablet and laptop market. As the tablet industry thrives similarly with the smartphone sector, Samsung is trying their odds with a 12" tablet set for release this October.
Can it propel the company to the top spot the same way Galaxy did for mobile handsets?
When talking about tablets the idea usually revolves around 7 to 8" devices, Samsung is changing that. Reports suggest that Samsung plans to release a tablet measuring 12 inches. Rumors about bigger tablets have been surfacing for the past couple of months.
Even Samsung's biggest competitor, Apple, has also been reported to be developing a tablet quite larger than their previous offerings. There were reports indicating that Samsung has been working on an SM-P900 type of tablet. The report said the device was sighted in UAProf.
If this is not proof for people to believe the 12-inch tablet, Korea Economic Daily has also reported about Samsung working and developing a 12-inch tablet PC. The daily also claimed that the display will be produced by Samsung Display. This means the display resolution will be a notch above a Full HD.
Previous leaks, say that resolution can be around 2560 x 1600. Aside from reports about the better resolution, many sources have also highlighted Samsung's use of the Exynos 5 Octa processor. The Korean tech giant has been working on developing and manufacturing their own line of processors. The 12-inch tablet can be one of the first devices from the company using their self-branded chipset.
This is an interesting feat as it will be the basis whether Samsung can already stand on its own manufacturing all parts for their devices including their processors. It is important to note that tech manufacturers have often relied on companies like Intel and Qualcomm to manufacture their processors. Samsung is moving on becoming independent.
Expected release of the product is around October. This means that there is a high chance that Samsung will announce the final details during the IFA 2013 on September 14. The market will have to wait for further announcements. Around this time, other companies like Sony and Apple can also be making announcements about their upcoming products. It should be an interesting event.
