Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus Arrives August 20, ATIV Has Crazier Resolution and Better Specs Than Apple’s MacBook Pro with Retina?
In a continuing battle between Apple and Samsung, the Korean tech giant remains adamant on getting ahead of the race. Users waiting for the MacBook Pro Retina display running on Windows may have to look at Samsung first for a similar offer. Introducing the ATIV Book 9 Plus, Samsung wants to make sure it can also compete with Apple when it comes to laptops and ultrabooks.
The device features a 13.3-inch SuperBright+ touch screen complete with 350ints of brightness. The screen also has a 10-point touch input. Resolution is at 3200 x 1300 or 275ppi.
Samsung's ATIV Book 9 Plus boasts of impressive internal hardware. It runs on a dual-core i5-4200U Haswell chip clocked at 1.6GHz. It also offers 4GB of DDR3-1600MHz RAM. Internal memory is 128GB solid state drive. The device features an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400.
Other specs include a 3-in-1 card reader, Ethernet, webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, integrated microphone and speakers, WiDi and 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.
The Book 9 Plus additionally features a micro-HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, 1.8mm headphone/microphone combo jack and a mini-VGA. The VGA is optional through a cable connection. The device runs on a 64-bit copy of Windows. The frame measures 13.6mm thick whereas the device weighs 3.06 pounds or 1.39kg.
According to Samsung, the laptop can offer up to 11 hours of battery for a single charge.
Price for the device starts at $1399.99, considering the display and hardware, the laptop offers a reasonable price. Users also have the option of expanding storage capacity and memory for a specific fee. Samsung already started pre-orders for the Book 9 Plus.
The 13.3 inch display of the ATIV Book 9 uses LED-lit LCD screen. It also comes with Gorilla Glass protection plus 350 nit SuperBright technology offering an excellent viewing experience.
"The panel also tilts back up to 180-degrees, so you can change or share your perspective with just a touch of your finger," explained Samsung.
Additionally, the display locks at approximately 110-degrees to ensure a comfortable touch experience without wobbling."
