Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) launches: Official specs, features, price and release date revealed
Samsung has finally revealed its 2017 Galaxy A series line-up. The latest Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 (2017) are set to hit Russia in the next few days before becoming available in other regions.
The median Galaxy A5 sports a 5.2-inch FHD Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 424 ppi pixel density. It’s powered by an Exynos 7880 chipset with a 1.9 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU, Mali-T830MP2 GPU, 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM. An external microSD memory slot is also available that is expandable up to 256 GB.

The 2017 Samsung Galaxy A5 has two 16 MP cameras (front and back) with f/1.9 apertures. It has a powerful non-removable lithium-ion battery with 3,000 mAh capacity and the South Korean tech giant’s Fast Charging technology, although it doesn’t run on Android’s latest operating system, Nougat 7.1, and uses Marshmallow 6.0.16 instead.
The new Galaxy A5 also has an IP68 certification. It can be submerged into water 1.5 meters deep for up to half an hour. It’s also dust proof and doesn’t require extra covers to hold off dirt and sand.

The latest Galaxy A5 also has additional features like Samsung KNOX, Samsung Pay and S-Voice. The middle A series handset also keeps the 3.5 mm headphone jack and boasts of a loudspeaker. It likewise equips the typical sensors including accelerometer, barometer, compass, fingerprint and proximity.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is offered in four colours: peach cloud, blue coral, black sky and gold sand. It costs €100 (AU$145) more than the Galaxy A3 with its €429 (AU$624) price tag and is set for a Russian debut in the coming days before hitting other countries. The new handset is also available in a dual SIM variant, just like its Galaxy A series peers.
