Galaxy A8 is a new addition to Galaxy A series of metal clad smartphones from Samsung. The Galaxy A smarpthones portfolio includes devices like the Galaxy A3, the Galaxy A5 and the Galaxy A7. A new smartphone with model number SM-A800F has been spotted by SamMobile along with its specifications.

Like the other siblings, the Galaxy A8 will also come with metal construction. In the previous month, Phone Arena had reported that Samsung had registered trademarks for new Galaxy A lineup devices like the Galaxy A6, the Galaxy A8 and the Galaxy A9. And now more concrete information on the Galaxy A8 specifications have come up.

According to the post from Sam Mobile, the Galaxy A8 will be featuring a 5.7-inch display screen with support for full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The Galaxy A8 will be powered by an upper midrange Snapdragon 615 chipset that comes with quad cores of Cortex A53 gunning at 1.7 GHz. The other quad cores from Cortex A53 produce a clocking speed of 1 GHz.

The chipset includes the Adreno 405 graphics. It will come fitted with 2 GB of RAM. The native storage of the device is 16 GB. It will come preloaded with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop overlaid with TouchWiz UI. The handset will be powered by 3,050 mAh battery.

It will be housing a 16 MP camera on its rear whereas the front will feature a 5 MP front-facing shooter. Early speculations claim that the 16 MP shooter of Galaxy A8 is not the same one that is available on the newly released Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note 4.

The Galaxy A series handsets are known for their slim and beautiful metallic appearance. The Galaxy A8 is speculated to come with a thickness of 5.9 mm. If this rumour comes true, it will be the thinnest smartphone manufactured by Samsung till now. Currently, the thinnest Samsung phone is Galaxy A7 with a thickness of 6.3 mm.

Even though the specs of the device may appear promising, there is no confirmation from Samsung on releasing the Galaxy A8. Hence, as of this writing, there is no strong evidence on the Galaxy A8 release date.
