Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and 3, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Fresh to Get Android 4.4 KitKat in 2014?
Samsung is finally reconsidering Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade plans on several low-cost mobile smartphones such as Galaxy Ace, Fame and Mini editions. A new internal report reveals which models are going to get the latest Android OS.
Leaked Document
Samsung will bring the newest Android experience among low-cost Galaxy smartphones by reconsidering an official Android 4.4 KitKat update in 2014. According to Sam Mobile, an internal leaked document revealed several selected low-cost Galaxy smartphones getting Android 4.4 KitKat soon. The smartphones under investigation are as follows:
1. Galaxy Ace 2 and 3
2. Galaxy Core
3. Galaxy Fame
4. Galaxy Fresh.
Through these low-cost smartphones, Samsung can distribute better Android experience to the masses by allowing more people to get features from Android 4.4 KitKat such as reduced memory consumption on low-memory with 512 MB of RAM and better multi-tasking function.
However, the list didn't seem to include any exact date and could only mean an upgrade plan by Samsung which may or may not happen at all. It is most likely that the Galaxy S4 Mini will get an update ahead of the above mentioned smartphones right after the official Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade for Galaxy S4 and Note 3.
Samsung's Current Target
As of now, Android 4.4 KitKat official upgrade is pointing towards the direction of the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. It is expected that the company will begin pushing new software updates by 2014 after the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean rollout which is now available for international variants, Canada, Europe and the United States.
According to some rumours, Android 4.4 KitKat for Galaxy S4 and Note 3 may be released as early as January 2014 and then followed by the Galaxy S4 Mini. The Galaxy S3 and the Note 2 may get their own major update by the end of Q1 2014 and, hopefully, followed by low-cost smartphones such as Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Fresh.
Unfortunately, the Galaxy Mini first and second generations aren't included in the list of possible recipients and it is unknown if a second batch of low-cost smartphones will be decided later on next year.
