Readers who are interested in purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Alpha or the Sony Xperia Z3 should check out this specification, features and price comparison.
Display, Exterior And Size
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display, whereas the Sony Xperia Z3 boasts a relatively bigger 5.2-inch IPS LCD display. While the Galaxy Alpha comes with a screen resolution and a pixel density of 720 x 1,280 pixels and 312 ppi, the Xperia Z3 bundles a much better 1,080 x 1,920 pixels and 424 ppi, respectively.
When it comes to screen differences, the Sony device provides crystal clear and vivid display aided by TRILUMINOS display technology, Live Color LED, and X-Reality, guaranteeing a killer view for the users, says Phone Arena. Even with a sharp display, upon positioning the device nearby, the Galaxy Alpha's slight pixilation is quite apparent. Moreover, the Sony Xperia Z3 sports a curved aluminium exterior, in addition to the synonymous glass panel seen in high-end Xperia devices. The Galaxy Alpha, on the other hand, ditches plastic for the much-loved metallic frame, which is elegant with bevelled corners. Nevertheless, the rear is the same faux-leather panel seen in the Galaxy S5. Instead of the perforated back, the Galaxy Alpha has cross-stitch pattern, says Phone Arena.
Speaking of size, the thickness and weight of the Xperia Z3 are 0.29-inch and 152 g, respectively, whereas the Galaxy Alpha is 0.26-inch thick and weighs 115 g.

The Sony device, on the other hand, is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz. Despite this, the Xperia Z3 is backed by a killer 3 GB of RAM, while the Samsung Galaxy Alpha settles for 2 GB. Moreover, both the devices run on Android OS v4.4.4 (KitKat). However, the Samsung device uses TouchWiz UI on top of Android OS.
When it comes to memory, the Samsung handset offers 32 GB of in-built storage, while the Sony handset provides 16 GB and 32 GB of internal storage options. Furthermore, the Sony Xperia Z3 supports microSD card for expansion up to 128 GB -- surprisingly, the Galaxy Alpha doesn't.
