Samsung Galaxy Mega, which features a huge 6-inch display, has now been listed on the Thai website of Samsung. PhoneArena claims that the new Galaxy Mega 2 has been available in Asian countries like Malaysia and Thailand for the past two months with a price tag of about $400. However, it is only now that the South Korean tech giant has officialy listed the Galaxy Mega 2 on its websites.

Apart from the premium Note phablet series, Samsung also came out with another phablet series called Galaxy Mega which features lower-end specs. In 2013, Samsung launched two editions of Galaxy Mega phablets, one sporting a 6.3-inch display and the other one with 5.8-inch display.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is the successor of Mega 6.3 and Mega 5.8. It is available with a 6-inch Super AMOLDE HD resolution screen that offers a lower pixel density of 245ppi. The handset measures 163.6 x 84.9 x 8.6 mm.

The new Galaxy Mega 2 is bigger than the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge that were launched at the beginning of this month. However, as far as specifications are concerned, the Note 4 and Note Edge have more advanced features than the Mega 2.

The Galaxy Mega 2 is powered with Exynos 4415 chipset that includes 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and Mali-400 graphics. It also comes with 1.5 GB RAM. The internal storage of the huge phablet is 16 GB, and the external storage supports microSD, up to 64 GB. The handset is shipped with the latest Android v4.4.4. KitKat OS.

Since the original Mega phablets came with special software features that are also available on the Note phablets such as Multi-Window, Air View, S-Memo, S-Voice, Ultra Power Saving Mode, the new Mega 2 is expected to have upgraded versions of these features. Other features of the handset are an 8 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. It also supports 1080p video recording. On the front, there is a 2.1 MP camera. The Galaxy Mega 2 also has connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, v4.0 Bluetooth, aGPS and GLONASS. It comes with removable 2800 mAh battery.

GSMArena claims that the Galaxy Mega 2 will also be available as a dual SIM variant as well as an LTE connectivity variant. As of writing, there is no official statement yet whether the device wil be available in other regions such as North America and Europe, Phone Arena reports.
