Will you choose the Samsung Galaxy Mega over the Korean tech firm's Galaxy Note 2? The Mega is a new arrival against the more established Note. Phone users shopping for a bigger screen are likely to consider these two options. The 6.3-inch Mega and 5.5-inch Note carry more differences than the screen size. Here are top three of the reasons shoppers are more likely to lean on the "smaller" Note.

When you call a 5.5-inch phablet "small," it would sound odd, even funny. But such is the truth when the Note 2 is compared against the much bigger and newer (yet-to-be-released) Samsung Galaxy Mega. Each of these phones has a different target user. If you're not all about screen size, here are five reasons to go smaller:

1. Battery life. The Note 2 is powered by a 3,100 mAh battery. The Mega 6.3 battery is bigger by only 100 mAh. This small difference is a bit alarming considering a bigger screen display would typically suck up more battery faster than the smaller screen.

2. CPU and storage. Inside the Note 2 is a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos with 2GB of RAM. Storage variants are 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB with microSD expansion up to 64GB. Inside the Mega is a 1.7GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 (Cortex-A15), with 1.5GB of RAM. Mega storage variants are: 8GB and 16GB, with microSD expansion up to 64GB. If you store a lot of media in your device, the Note 2 is better than the Mega.

3. Price. It seems the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 price tag will take more money from gadget shoppers. Samsung has not officially released prices, but a German online site has some intel. (Scroll down for details.)

4. Stylus. The stylus of the Note 2 is one of its biggest features. If you absolutely want the Samsung S-Pen securely placed in your device, ditch the thought of shopping for a Mega.

5. Device grip. The 5.5-inch phone is already too big to manage with one hand. This should turn-ff buyers from the 6.3-inch Mega phone, but not when they are actually shopping for a giant phone.

The Australian online gadget store MobiCity.com already has Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 DUOS in its portfolio. But the price tags are still shrouded in mystery. Another online tech shopping site, the German retailer Notebooksbilliger has revealed the Galaxy Mega 6.3 price on its site. The Mega GT-I9200 unit is now available for pre-order for €899 (AU$). In contrast, the Note 2 carries a €478 price tag.
