Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Promises Killer Upgrades: WQXGA Super clear LCD, Stunning 10-inch Display and Quad Core Processor
Samsung just announced their Galaxy Note 10.1, 2014 Edition. The device combines portability, content functionality and consumption. Features include 10-inch display with WQXGA Super clear LCD (2560×1600) resolution, 1.9GHz A15 Quad Core + 1.3GHz A7 Quad Core Processor including 3 GB RAM. The 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 stays dedicated to Samsung's vision in delivering innovative and productive devices into the market.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition boasts functionality while remaining thin and light.
"The new GALAXY Note 10.1 is the most progressive 10-inch tablet, delivering the best viewing and multitasking experiences. It is the most recent demonstration of Samsung Mobile's focus on constant product innovation to stay aligned with shifting consumer interests," Eric Sulit, Business Unit Director SEPCO IT & Mobile Division Philippines, explained.
"The GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) unites a range of features that will consistently surprise consumers as they realize how much easier and more enjoyable it makes their everyday lives," he added.
The device sports a thin, sleek and light design ensuring style and portability.
Design Quality
The Note 10.1 follows a similar design to that of Note 3. It is more beneficial than harmful. The 2014 Edition takes a great leap in design far from its Note 10.1 predecessor. Samsung removed the two-tone design, glossy plastic and large bezels.
One of the primary changes on the device is the back plate. The texturized back offers an excellent feel to the hands. This makes it easier for users to grip the device. The bezels became narrower, straighter and flatter. This gives off a sketchpad or notepad feeling. The sides of the Note 10.1 2014 also feature faux leather and stitching complimenting the overall feel.
Some users though may have to get used to the feeling of the faux. Users may not need to access some buttons like the menu and back controls with the S Pen included. The S Pen saves users from using their fingers and accessing buttons on the device.
Other components on the device include a microSD card slot, speakers, volume rocker and microUSB 2.0.
Display
Another selling point of the device is the display. As mentioned, the device offers 2560 x 1600 resolution with pixel density at 299 ppi. The 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 stands out from most competitors in its category for display. Whereas, the Note 3 featured AMOLED display, the technology is not ripe enough for slates. Instead, the 10.1 sticks with an LCD.
Performance
Samsung did not compromise any part of the Note's hardware. Samsung assures users they can get what they paid for and more. The device runs on Exynos 5420 which is an updated version of the first generation octa-core processor found on the Galaxy S4. This means improved GPU and faster speed.
Nonetheless, users cannot expect the same smooth or fast performance from the Snapdragon 800 in the Note 3. The device also operates with 8220 mAh battery.
