Samsung Galaxy Note 2 may battle head on with iPhone 5 as reports claim that the device will be released the same time with Apple's flagship phone.

Just when critics and fans alike thought they have seen the best of Samsung in the recently released Galaxy S3, Korea-based mobile manufacturer may have another surprise before the year ends. Reports say that Samsung will release its real 2012 flagship phone later this year equipped with humungous Super AMOLED display.

Samsung garnered success when it released the first generation of Galaxy Note last year despite negative reviews of its mammoth screen and "phablet" appearance. Many critics thought that it may not appeal to smartphone users because of its impractical size. However, Samsung proved them wrong.

Minimal details were revealed about Galaxy Note 2. Samsung Saudi Arabia tweeted that the device will be released sometime in October. However, GSM Arena reported that Samsung is planning an early releasein September to avoid being overshadowed by the release Apple's iPhone 5.

Due to the unflattering appearance of its predecessor, Samsung is working on the design of the new smartphone. An industry insider tipped GSM Arena that the new Galaxy Note 2 will be equipped with 5.5 inch Super AMOLED screen with the design inspired by the Galaxy S3. Moreover, the new device will be thinner compared to the previous Galaxy Note.

Did you thin that the rumored 4-inch screen of iPhone 5 is the best thing that happened to iPhone? Well, Samsung will bring a mammoth screen to the upcoming Galaxy Note 2. Super AMOLED screens had been a staple feature of Samsung smartphones. Although it is no match to the pixels of Retina Display, it has better color saturation that yields clearer and vivid pictures.

A lot rumors emerged about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Reports said that the new device will probably sport quad-core processor and 12 megapixel rear camera as well as the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as its operating system.

Last month, there were reports that Galaxy Note 2 may be equipped with flexible displays due to ads found in Korea. However, this may seem unappealing for many.

Samsung has a strong hold in the Australian market proved by the popularity of the recently released Galaxy S3. The Korean manufacturer is finally picking up its game and wants a great chunk of Apple's success. However, like Apple, Samsung is being secretive with the details of its devices. Public will just have to wait and see.
