Android 4.4.2 Update Reports

Sam Mobile leaked the firmware build N9005XXUENA6 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 while users at Poland are also receiving the same upgrade with another firmware build version.

If you are located in UK or the U.S. and unsure if any upgrades is now available, here are easy steps on how to check it out.

Over the Air Process

Usually, local network carriers are handling official firmware rollouts for smartphones.

1. Go to Settings

2. Select About Phone

3. Tap on Software Updates

If your network carrier is seeding the new firmware, you're able to download and install it using Over-the-Air process but you need to create a backup first of all data stored on the device, plug the phone on its AC power and connect to a stable Wi-Fi connectivity with Internet access to prevent any issues during installation.

Samsung Kies PC Suite

There are times that Over-the-Air process does not work for certain regions or model variants. Samsung Kies is the usual method to get the latest firmware for devices that are unable to get it via OTA.

1. Download the Samsung Kies PC Suite from Samsung's official Web site.

2. Install the executable file on your computer.

3. Launch the Samsung Kies.

4. Connect the Galaxy Note 3 to your computer using a USB cable.

5. Let the program read the drivers of your phone.

6. A pop-up notification should appear if any firmware update is available for your device.

7. Follow instructions displayed to create backup, sync contacts and how to install it on your device.

8. Never interrupt the installation process to avoid corrupting the new firmware.

Some data files that aren't recognized by Samsung Kies are not going to be synced which means you need to create a manual backup instead. These data include different media codec, APN settings, messages and others.

For some users, creating a nAndroid backup is also essential if the device has root access in case the new firmware has serious bug problems. nAndroid backup can be used to restore the former ROM and system configuration before any update can be performed.
