Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Approaching Release Date: Features 3-Sided Display and 20 MP Camera, Rumours Say
The recent news and rumours about Samsung's flagship device, the Galaxy S5 overshadowed Samsung's curved devices plans. After the launch of the LG G Flex and the Samsung Galaxy Round, what is next for Samsung apart from the Galaxy S5? Rumours suggest that it would be a smartphone sporting a three-sided display, which could be the Galaxy Note 4.
Bloomberg reported that Samsung will deliver another curved smartphone in 2014 which will feature a three-sided display. This three-sided display will be wrapping around the sides of the smartphone offering users to receive contents from different sides. The curved and flexible smartphone plans started late this year and it is expected to fire up in 2014. Samsung will most likely make the most of of its newly acquired YOUM display technology.
The Galaxy S5 release date is already on track early next year, and it is more likely that the YOUM technology will be incorporated in the Galaxy Note 4 instead.
With the YOUM technology, the latest Samsung device will be extremely impressive. A wide array of customisation is expected as each side of the display is said to "operate independently."
Another report form ET News said that Samsung is also working on the 20 MP camera modules to be ready for the second half next year, which is the same time the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is set to be launched. If Samsung will not wait until 2015, we might get to see a Galaxy Note 4 with 20 MP camera late next year. Typically, Samsung uses the same camera specs on its Galaxy Note and S series, but next year, this could not be the case.
Needless to say, these reports must be taken with a pinch of salt, as smartphone users are expecting to see the OIS technology in its devices.
Samsung needs to innovate its devices especially now that there are rumours of the next generation iPhone having bigger curved screens and motion sensors. The competition between Apple and Samsung remains cut-throat and each tech giant needs to stay relevant by satisfying the ever changing appetite of its market.
The first look at the next generation device from Samsung is expected to be launched, or at least announced, at the CES in January at Las Vegas.
