The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge on AT&T are now receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Sprint started rolling out the firmware update to Note 4 on Aug. 3.

The download comes in at 693.32 MB. Like most of the OTA (over the air) updates, the Android 5.1.1 update might take few days to reach most devices. In most cases, updates are staggered and released in phases.

Users can simply go to Settings> About Phone> Software Updates and tap on 'Check for Updates' menu to check if the Android 5.1.1 firmware update is available.

The Android 5.1.1 update will bring a lot of improvements over Android 5.0, including improved security features, Material Design UI, smooth interface while multitasking, better use of the camera app and enhanced battery life, reports Techno Buffalo.

According to a report in Neurogadget, the software update will address issues created by the malware called Stagefright that allowed hackers to infringe on devices running on Android 5.0 Lollipop. MMS containing malicious code were sent to users to gain access to Android devices.

The Samsung product support pages for Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Edge enumerate details for users. Before commencing the installation, however, users must ensure their devices are juiced up to at least 60 percent and is connected to Wi-Fi.

In the meantime, Verizon also released the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for LG G3. There is speculation that Samsung might introduce the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Galaxy Note 5 and Note 4 followed by Galaxy Note 3 and Note Edge by the end of 2015.
