Galaxy S5 isn't the only one getting boiled with rumours but also Galaxy Note 4 expected to arrive with better technology than S5. So if you want to upgrade to Galaxy Note 3 from Note 3, here are ten expectations you should look after for the phablet of 2014.

New Display Technology

New reports claim that Samsung may change from Super AMOLED technology to PLS LCD displays on Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 in 2014. Considering change from PLS LCD will reduce production costs by almost 20 per cent and may even reduce price tags on devices using it. However, it is unclear yet if Samsung will definitely go for it since Super AMOLED screens have reached very close quality with the best LCDs in the world.

Optical Image Stabilisation

Some rumours hinted out that S5 won't feature Optical Image Stabilisation due to failure to accumulate all hardware components needed. In case it is true, Samsung can definitely add the camera module on Galaxy Note 4 which is scheduled to be released on the second half of 2014.

ISOCELL Camera Module

In addition to OIS camera technology, Samsung is now looking on adding their ISOCELL camera module on S5 which improves photo capture and video recording under low-light scene. If Galaxy S5 features an ISOCELL camera, expect an ISOCELL to on Galaxy Note 4.

More S Pen Features

No argument when it comes to S Pen features for 2014. Samsung will do the same thing with improvements throughout the evolution of the Galaxy Note series. But you should expect something to improve performance of the pen, lesser consumption of the battery and more convenience on accessing these exclusive features.

Galaxy Note Lite

According to a tip, Samsung may release a Galaxy Note 3 Lite in 2014 at the MWC event. Note 3 Lite has a model number SM-N7505 with availability of black and white colour schemes, almost 6 inches of screen display, 8 MP camera and Super AMOLED display module. As the name suggests, it is downgraded with a cheaper price compared to the original variant. If Note 3 has one, why not Note 4 in early 2015?

Other Variants

Galaxy Note series doesn't have any variants yet that features water, dust or shock resistances unlike with Galaxy S4. But the arrival of rumoured Galaxy Note 3 Lite may pave way for possible variant that carries resistances with some downgrades on certain hardware or software components.

Android 4.4.1 or 4.4.2 KitKat

Android 4.4 KitKat is the latest but Google recently released both Android 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 versions which something could appear on Galaxy Note 4. Some features such as camera improvements, performance and bug fixes are included on Android 4.4.2, boosting the Galaxy Note 4.

Processor Type

Reports reveal that Samsung is close on finishing the Exynos 6 64-bit support processor for Galaxy S5 and also something you can expect on Galaxy Note 4. However, a variant may become available using Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor and by that time, a new chipset is available.

Battery Life

Brand-new processor, all-new operating system and slimmer RAM chipset means more battery juice to serve you with longer S Pen functions. Samsung is surely to improve the battery rating of Note 4 but the Exynos 6 64-bit CPU, Android 4.4 and better RAM chip will add significantly to reduce power consumption and manage heat better.

Security Sensor

It is unclear if Samsung will proceed on adding a Fingerprint ID or Retina Eye scanner on Galaxy S5 but Galaxy Note 4 is more premium and deserves better security aside from Samsung Knox. In worst case that Samsung fails to add security scanners on Galaxy S5, the company will have more reasons to implement it on Galaxy Note 4 but expect pricier tag on the next-generation phablet.
