The recently leaked information pertaining to the heavily rumoured Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date hints that the device will be announced in a press conference in IFA Expo on September 3, 2014. Also, the Galaxy Note 4 was recently spotted in the AnTuTu benchmark database. This revealed the existence of 2 different models of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 namely SM-N910S and SM-N910C.

The SM-N910S model number pertains to the processor from Qualcomm and the SM-N910C refers to Exynos model of the Galaxy Note 4. Google Nexus 5, on the other hand, was released in November 2013 and its boasts killer specs and stunning features. Here is a specification, and feature comparison between the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 and the Google Nexus 5.

Display and Exterior

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a whopping 5.7 inches display with a phenomenal screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels (2K display). The Nexus 5, on the other hand, comes with a relatively smaller 4.95 inches True HD IPS+ display with a standard 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution.

The pixel strength of the Nexus 5 is 445 ppi, while the upcoming Note 4 is expected to come with more than 500+ ppi of pixel density. Similar to its predecessor Note 3, the Note 4 is expected to feature the same faux leather exterior. The Nexus 5 has an understated look with a plastic exterior and hence it doesn't look premium.

According to The Korea Times, a senior official from a local supplier unit told the publication that Samsung is planning to release two models of Galaxy Note 4 with a curved OLED display and a regular OLED display. Google Nexus 5, meanwhile, boasts an intelligently simple design and showcases impressive full HD display.

Hardware, Software and Internal Storage

The Galaxy Note 4 with model number SM-N910S is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) Krait 450 processor and Adreno 420 GPU. The SM-N910C model, on the other hand, is powered by an octa-core (Samsung Exynos 5433) processor with ARM Mali-T760 GPU. The Nexus 5 is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800) Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will run on the latest Android 4.4.3 KitKat, while the Nexus 5 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which is upgradable to higher OS versions.

The Galaxy Note 4 will house a solid 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, while the Nexus 5 houses only a 2 GB of RAM and it supports 16 GB and 32 GB of internal storage capacity with no microSD card support. If rumors were true, the Galaxy Note 4 could support up to 128 GB of internal storage.

Battery and Camera

The Nexus 5 houses a non-removable Li-Po 2300 mAh battery unit, which provides up to 17 hours of 3G talk-time and 300 hours of 3G stand-by time. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 4 is expected to house a superior 3600 mAh battery unit.

The Galaxy Nexus 5 comes with an 8 MP and 1.3 MP rear and front-facing camera units respectively, whereas the Galaxy Note 4 will sport a whopping 16 MP primary camera and a 3.6 MP secondary camera unit. In addition, the Note 4 camera would support 4K recording capabilities like the LG G3.

Misc

1. The Nexus 5 supports NFC and the Note 4 is expected to follow suit.

2. The Nexus 5 comes in red, white and black colours. The Galaxy Note 4, on the other hand, is expected to come in black, white, green and red shades, says Note4Galaxy.

3. The Note 4 will feature a fingerprint sensor, while the Nexus 5 doesn't.

4. The Galaxy Note 4 will feature a 'Swipe to launch' option similar to the HTC One M8. With this feature, users can input gestures (swipes) to unlock the phone.

5. The Note 4 will reportedly feature 'Aqua Capture' capability. This feature can be used to capture photos under water.

6. The other significant feature includes 'Multi Network for Booster.' This feature utilises both the LTE and Wi-Fi to give a temporary speed boost.

7. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Gear 3 smartwatch along with the Galaxy Note 4.

Price

The Google Nexus 5 32 GB variant is priced at AU$489.95, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to be priced under US$800, which roughly translates to AU$860 in Australia.
