A Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was launched in Japan on Oct 23. The Note Edge is now available in its home country, South Korea, through leading carriers such as SK Telecom and KT. The Note Edge will be available in two colours, Charcoal Black and Frost White. SK Telecom will start selling the Galaxy Note Edge today while KT will offer it tomorrow.

The news was first revealed by Sammobile. It states that Galaxy Note Edge is priced at 1,067,000 KRW, which is equivalent to 1018 USD and 1150 AUD. Samsung is calling the Galaxy Note Edge as a limited edition concept smartphone and it only plans to launch in selected countries.

PhoneArena states that Samsung will be rolling out only 1 million units of the uniquely curved display handset by end of this year. The reason why Samsung has in manufacturing less number of Galaxy Note Edge units is that the manufacturing process for creating a curved display handset is quite complicated. However, the handset is expected to release in several countries across the globe.

The Galaxy Note Edge was showcased to the world on Sept 3. During the same unveil event, Samsung had launched the Galaxy Note 4. Since the Note Edge has similar features to the Note 4, it is considered as a Note 4 variant.

The USP of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is the marvelous curved display present on its right edge. It displays all kinds of alerts, frequently used apps and so on. So users do not need to pick up their handset to check alerts. Without touching the handset, users can see alerts through the edge display.

The Galaxy Not Edge features a 5.6-inch display which supports a display resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels with a pixel density of 524 ppi. It is powered with the Snapdragon 805 SoC which includes Krait 450 quad-core processor working at 2.7 GHz and Adreno 420 graphics. The SoC is complemented with 3 GB of RAM.

The Note Edge comes with two storage options, 32 GB and 64 GB. It features a 16 MP rear camera with OIS and 3.7 MP camera for shooting selfies. Lastly, it is powered by a 3000 mAh battery.
