Samsung Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean Update Coming in October; 4.2.2 Version Kills Handset’s Battery
Samsung assured Galaxy S3 users by confirming that there will be a 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the device.
The South Korean tech giant slipped some good news during the Unpacked event hinting that S3 and S4 users will receive the 4.3 version of Jelly Bean OS very soon. The new OS update will most likely to arrive in October, Android Authority reported.
It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will receive the latest version Jelly Bean. However, Galaxy S3 users took delight when the device is cited to get the new OS as well. Samsung provided no additional details about the rollout of the Jelly Bean OS.
According to the Android Authority, 4.3 Jelly Bean update will bring new such as "restricted profiles, Bluetooth 4.0 low-energy support, Open GL 3.0 support, and a T9 dialer. There has also been improvement in terms of notifications for the device."
Meanwhile, the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S3 has begun to roll out in some regions. However, some users complained that the update eats up the battery life of the device.
This could be due to Google Now automatic updates on locations. The automatic updates soaks up the battery fast. But users can opt to turn off this feature as well as follow some Samsung Galaxy S3 battery-saving tips.
Samsung garnered disappointment from users due to the slow rollout of OS updates. There are reports that claimed that Samsung will skip the release of 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update and will directly get the 4.3 version of the OS.
"Will confirm upgrade plans to Android 4.3 to selected Galaxy devices in the coming months," said by the spokesperson of Samsung U.K.
During the past months, the rollout of the latest Android update has been constantly delayed, not matching the speed of release of Google's update.
However, impatient GS3 and GS4 users who want to get their hands on the later versions of Jelly Bean update can install the latest OS via Custom ROM and other unofficial, root-based update from developers.
