Samsung Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean Update Confusing Roll Out Continues
The official roll out of the Samsung Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update is still undetermined and various reports stated different times of arrival.
IBTimes AU previously reported that owners of Samsung Galaxy S3 in Asia will receive the 4.3 Jelly Bean update later this month. Other parts of the world may expect the roll out in the following weeks.
According to GottaBeMobile, a Galaxy Gear manual and an Australian carrier hinted that the roll out of the 4.3 Jelly Bean update in the said country is in weeks ahead. Thus, the release will most probably happen in November.
Meanwhile, there are reports that claimed that Samsung Galaxy S3 owners must wait until December as the OS update is delayed again. Thus, it is still unclear what version of Android OS the device will receive.
SamMobile stated via a tweet that the delay may be due to a problem with the TouchWiz interface of Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Note 2 are the smartphones that are bound to receive the 4.3 Jelly Bean update in the coming months. Samsung's president of strategic marketing for mobile division, Lee Don-joo, stated in an interview that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be connected to the Galaxy Gear by next month and will soon be followed by the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3.
"All functions of the Gear will be connected to the Galaxy S4 smartphone by next month and the connection will be expanded to Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 by the end of December," Lee Don-joo told the Korea Times.
Samsung's smartwatch Galaxy Gear was released alongside Galaxy Note 3 last month with pre-installed 4.3 version of Jelly Bean OS.
The 4.3 Jelly Bean update will bring "OpenGL ES 3.0, Bluetooth Smart and improved text input on the keyboard". The update is 100MB when installed in the device. Samsung is reported to be testing the final build of the 4.3 Jelly Bean update to avoid issues and to offer lag free experience to users.
Users must wait for a notification which will be received if your device will get the update. The 4.3 Jelly Bean update will be available via Over-The-Air update or through the Samsung Galaxy Kies PC Suite.
