Samsung Galaxy S3 will no longer receive 4.3 Jelly Bean OS update and upgrade for Galaxy Note 2 will be delayed indefinitely, according to the report from Phones Review.

Last week, Samsung started rolling out the 4.3 Jelly Bean OS update for Galaxy S3. However, the company halted the release since many users encountered problems updating their devices.

According to the report, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 first hit the U.K. yesterday and it was available for the unlocked version of the device via an Over the Air update. The OS upgrade was rolled out in various regions but users are hit with issues that the update has been pulled out and the upgrade for Note 2 was delayed.

Many users complained about the handset being unresponsive after the update especially the lock screen, and depleted battery life. Other problems included a patchy Wi-Fi connection or the handset locking up completely needing the battery to be pulled to restart the device.

Samsung offered no comment on the issues as well as on the status of 4.3 Jelly Bean OS update.

On Nov. 1, Google introduced the Android 4.4 KitKat OS alongside the Google Nexus 5. Google also announced that Nexus 4, 7 and 10 as well as Google Play Edition smartphones are the first to receive the KitKat software update.

This could mean that Samsung may jump right to working on the new Android KitKat OS. According to GottaBeMobile, the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update is now on the testing phase and will be released in the near future. SamMobile claimed that Samsung is now working on the OS upgrade. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was released running with the 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.

Although Samsung has not confirmed anything yet, it is speculated that Samsung Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update. Currently, Samsung has not released a timeline and estimated time of arrival of the update.

Samsung smartphones such as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 3 may receive the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update next year after the announcement of Samsung Galaxy S5. It is speculated that the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S5 will be the first smartphone to receive the KitKat OS aside from the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition.

To check manually on the update, select the settings option on the device before scrolling down to About device >Software update > and then Check for updates.
