Samsung Galaxy S3 4.4.2 Kitkat Update Soon; Handset Skips 4.3 Jelly Bean
The 4.4.2 Kitkat OS update for Samsung Galaxy S3 has not seen the light of the day. Samsung Galaxy S3 still has not gotten the official OS update yet despite the release of Samsung Galaxy S5 running with the software.
According to reports, the Kitkat update for Samsung Galaxy S3 is still in the works. But the leaked roadmap suggested Samsung Galaxy S3 will also have the update similar to Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Mega.
With the release of Samsung Galaxy S5 and the roll out of Kitkat OS update for Galaxy S4, it is most likely that Galaxy S3 will skip 4.3 Jelly Bean update.
Previous reports claimed Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will receive the Kitkat OS update "in late Q1 2014, soon after the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 roll out." It was reported earlier that the devices will receive the update this month.
The Android 4.4 Kitkat OS update will bring new tweaks and features to the smartphone such as transparent status bar with white icons, cloud printing and an "immersive mode" for full-screen reading and gaming.
Also, the Kitkat OS will take less tolls in the handset's power and allow users so they can enjoy a slightly smoother experience. Samsung Galaxy S3 will also get update on its user interface and the new Magazine UI.
Android 4.4 Kitkat OS update will be rolled out in phases, which means that not everybody will receive the update at the same time. Users under carriers may have to wait a little longer compared to those who were using the international version.
Samsung still has not confirmed yet the official dates for OTA update to Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. But the delay in the release of the update left many consumers disappointed as it seemed that they have been waiting for quite a long time. But there are various custom ROMs that were developed for Samsung Galaxy S3 owners.
