Android 4.3 official firmware update is really coming to Samsung Galaxy S3. Owners can finally rejoice getting a new version. Unfortunately, the software is also a killjoy as it doesn't have any Galaxy S4 features. In addition, Galaxy Note 2 will also receive the same update in October 2013.

After a long wait, owners of the Galaxy S3 are finally receiving their Android 4.3 update from Samsung. It is confirmed coming in on October 2013. Leaks revealed that network carriers are working on the latest firmware, preparing for push next month.

However, an odd part of the newest software was also exposed by tippers. According to SamMobile, Android 4.3 firmware has been leaked by the folk at AndroidSaS and the disappointing aspect of the next update is it lacks any Galaxy S4 features.

It seems like Samsung only improved the security features and fixed bugs from 4.1 Jelly Bean version of the Galaxy S3. Owners can only enjoy default Android 4.3 goodies such as Bluetooth Low Energy, OpenGL ES 3.0, improved dial pad, better text input, more language support, etc. Hopefully, Samsung really did fix the TouchWiz issue rumoured as the cause of delay.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Samsung hinted out that Android 4.3 is coming as well to Galaxy Note 2 which currently suffering system issues with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. According to GottaBeMobile, Samsung is allowing connectivity feature to the Galaxy Gear accessory which Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware may bring - Galaxy Gear smartwatch partner of Galaxy Note 3.

Other Devices on Queue and Android 4.4 KitKat

The Galaxy S4 is also on the table to receive Android 4.3 which will enhance overall system performance. It was already predicted that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.2.2 will change the status of the two flagship smartphones - the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4 - but with the appearance of Android 4.4 KitKat, owners may think twice to upgrade, as Samsung hasn't confirmed KitKat push on S3.

Google claims that Android 4.4 KitKat will be available to all older devices, but the company cannot push the update directly since Samsung must impart TouchWiz UI before releasing the software. The Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 can use custom ROMs running KitKat if owners are not willing to wait that long just to get updated.
