Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini vs Galaxy S3: Which is Worthy of Your Hard-Earned Money?
Samsung Electronics finally unveiled the little brother of its Galaxy S3 smartphone - Galaxy S3 Mini.
Samsung is making more and more smartphones to cater to other sectors of the population. Since Samsung Galaxy S3 is not everyone's cup of tea, then the tech giant made a new device for people who are looking for a cheaper yet powerful smartphone.
While many consumers have sought out smartphones with bigger screens, analysts say there's still a big market for smaller devices. Many Apple users, for example, have shunned the larger screen sizes found in Android devices. Thus far, many of the phones with smaller screens have been geared more to the entry level market, not providing the powerful specs found in high-end devices. That means few have given Apple a run for its money.
Current Analysis analyst Avi Greengart said, "Apple has proven quite conclusively that tens of millions of people are happy to have a device they can wrap their hands around."
"It doesn't mean they don't want powerful processors or high megapixel cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini isn't as powerful as its flagship phone, but the company says the device "can be an optimal choice for consumers who are looking for more practical smartphones," the analyst added.
Below is the comparison of Samsung Galaxy S3 and its miniature version.
Screen Display - The Samsung Galaxy S3 sports a 4.8 inch Super Amoled screen display; while the Galaxy S3 Mini has a small 4 inch screen size.

Operating System - Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini comes with Android v4.1 Jelly Bean. Its big brother will also get the Jelly Bean update soon.
4G/LTE Connectivity - One of the selling points of Samsung Galaxy S3 is 4G/LTE support. However, its miniature version does not support this feature.
NFC - Samsung Galaxy S3 also has an NFC feature. According to reports, users can choose whether the Galaxy S3 Mini has an NFC feature or not.
Storage - Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will be available with 8GB and 16GB storage variants with microSD slot up to 32GB, which is inferior to its predecessor's storage options of up to 128GB all in all.
Camera - Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini has 5 megapixel rear camera and VGA front shooter compared to Galaxy S3's 8 megapixel shooter.
Battery - Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini has 1500 mAh against 2100 mAh of the original Galaxy S3.
There is no official word yet from Samsung about the pricing and availability of Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. However, since the miniature version has downgraded the specs, it will be cheaper. Samsung Galaxy S3 is available in various carriers.
