Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 to Receive Android 4.4. KitKat OS?
Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 may be getting the new Android 4.4 KitKat OS, rumours asserted.
This rumour from XDA-Developers forum user named dxxh who claimed that he spoke to a Samsung UK representative about the SIM lock issue in the new Galaxy Note 3. The representative went on in saying that the SIM lock issue may be extended on Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.
"The rollout of Kitkat is to extend the regional lock to existing SGS3s and Note 2s - I asked if my existing unlocked SGS3 bought unlocked over a year ago is to be subject to the same regional lock if I upgrade. Yes according to rep. So I would not be able to use a SIM from outside the European region in it when travelling? Yes according to the rep.," GottaBeMobile quoted dxxh.
Google announced the Android 4.4 KitKat in September instead of the long rumoured Key Lime Pie. However, the search engine giant did not disclose any details when it comes to the release date of the same operating system.
Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are bound to receive the 4.3 Jelly Bean update in December.
Samsung's president of strategic marketing for the mobile division, Lee Don-joo, told the Korea Times that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be connected to the Galaxy Gear by next month. This will be followed by the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3.
"All functions of the Gear will be connected to the Galaxy S4 smartphone by next month and the connection will be expanded to Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 by the end of December," Lee Don-joo told the news Web site.
Thus, Samsung Galaxy S4 will most probably receive the 4.3 Jelly Bean update next month. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will follow suit by the end of this year.
