Samsung Galaxy S3 remains a popular device from Samsung's product line. As well received it is in the market, there are also a number of issues users run into from time to time. Some users express not getting their SMS following airplane mode.

The Droid Guy quoted a user reporting a problem about the Samsung Galaxy S3 following Airplane mode:

"After traveling for a couple of months and having my Samsung Galaxy S3 under Airplane Mode, I finally turned off the feature when I arrived home. However, it was very strange that I received no SMS after Airplane Mode was turned off. Is there a way to retrieve the messages sent to me while I was gone? Thanks."

Often, users should just turn off the Airplane Mode to retrieve their messages back. Some users may experience delay retrieving. It can take around an hour or a couple of days depending on the carrier. As for those not getting messages for a month then there might be a bigger problem.

According to AT&T's forum thread, carriers store messages for seven days. Carriers can only store messages for a limited time to avoid clogging the servers. Any time beyond this will mean deletion of messages. Companies will continue to send the messages during that duration. If messages were unable to reach the recipient, they will be taken out of the system.

The same can apply to other networks though there may be variations in duration. It is best for users to confirm with their networks how long they store the messages. There will be no way for users to retrieve their messages if they go beyond the specified duration.

Other Issues and tips include:

  • WiFi Authentication Error in Galaxy S3 - users experiencing WiFi connectivity problems can look into the WiFi range extender. As much as possible, users should connect directly to their WiFi. It is best to see the range extender and settings.
  • Galaxy S3 Freezes When Viewing Photos - when the device freezes it is usually a case of low memory. As much as possible, users should leave at least 150MB free to ensure their device runs smoothly.
