Samsung Galaxy S4 may get the Android 4.4 KitKat update in January, according to a report.

MobileBloom cites Google and Samsung and says that the both companies confirmed the roll out of the Latest leaked document revealed that Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will receive Android 4.4 KitKat OS update in Jan. next year while the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 may receive the upgrade in April.

This rumour is backed up by the document picked up by iTechAddict last month that listed the estimate roll out dates of the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update on some of the famous Samsung smartphones. The leaked document revealed that Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will receive Android 4.4 KitKat OS update in Jan. next year while the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 may receive the upgrade in April. The report claims that the document came from Samsung India's R&D department.

However, authenticity of the document cannot be verified. But if the document is real, users may have to wait a little longer for the Android KitKat update. One of the reasons for the delay is the integration of Samsung's TouchWiz UI in Android's OS.

Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition already received the sweet OS update last Nov. The update first arrived in Asia and Europe and will soon hit the U.S. and North America.

Currently, Samsung is rolling out the 4.3 Jelly Bean OS update for various Samsung smartphones in many countries. However, issues and problems were encountered by many users who downloaded the update. Some users complained about the handset become unresponsive after the users downloaded and installed the update, especially the lock screen. Moreover, the update depletes the battery life of the smartphone. Other problems included a patchy Wi-Fi connection or the handset locking up completely needing the battery to be pulled to restart the device. Thus, Samsung worked on a fix and did another roll out of the 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Android 4.4 KitKat OS was revealed alongside the Google Nexus 5 last month. Some of the improvements that Android 4.4 delivers are "smarter, more immersive" experience, improved messaging interface and a built-in pedometer. The multitasking feature is also improved and the speed and performance are hastened.
