Turkey's courts have blocked access to Twitter a little over a week before elections as Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan battles a corruption scandal that has seen social media awash with alleged evidence of government wrongdoing. The ban came hours after a defiant Erdogan, on the campaign trail ahead of key March 30 local elections, vowed to "wipe out" Twitter and said he did not care what the international community had to say about it. Knowing how to charge devices is different from understanding how to manage battery. As with majority of Samsung Galaxy S4 users, the biggest concern always boils down to shorter battery life. While competitors claim their batteries can last for up to three days on standby without charging, the battery life of the S4 lasts around 10 hours maximum. More users complained about the problem following update to Android 4.4.2. Fortunately, there are some workarounds this.

Monitor Screen Activities

One of the most convenient ways to avoid spending as much battery is to control screen activity. According to Breathecast, it is best to lower screen brightness and look out after the live wallpaper. As the logic goes, the higher the screen brightness, the more battery it requires. Often, programs and people do not need screen brightness that go beyond 10%. Unless the device is under direct sunlight then that is the only time people can adjust the brightness higher. Apart from that, programs should appear just fine with 10%.

It is also best for users not to set Android live wallpaper on their screen. The animation on the walllaper can drain battery fast especially with the additional light adjustments and movements. Stick to static wallpaper.

Unused Applications and GSM Mode

According to AndroidPIT, background apps can be energy demanding. It is best to make sure they are closed or not running to avoid unnecessary battery usage. This is even more applicable to camera programs. Most camera apps run in the background even after people use them. Make sure they are properly closed. It is also best to switch the device to GSM Mode if mobile data or WiFi are not needed. Mobile and WiFi data will keep scanning thus draining the battery fast.

These are just some of the ways people can manage their Samsung Galaxy S4 battery.
