Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE users will be delighted to know their devices will now get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware upgrade via a famous custom firmware.

CyanogenMod 13, more famously referred to as CM13 ROM, is now compatible with the Galaxy S4 LTE, particularly ones that bear the model number I9505, confirms Team Android.

The CM13 custom firmware made for the Galaxy S4 LTE offers a stable and smooth performance, which led testers to describe it as a "very usable ROM".

No matter how well the firmware has performed so far, however, it must be noted it’s not an official release from Samsung. Galaxy S4 LTE users interested in this upgrade should first download a custom recovery tool such as TeamWin Recovery Project or TWRP and ClockWorkMod Recovery or CWM. It’s only by doing so they can begin to flash the ROM, according to Latin Post.

Plus, the tool also assists users create a proper backup for the data they want to keep on their device. After all, immediately installing the custom ROM can instantly wipe the device clean.

While installing CM13, it’s best to ensure the device’s battery level is high. There must be at least 80 percent of battery life left to prevent the device from shutting down during the installation process. Once this happens, there could be permanent damage to the device.

The Galaxy S4 LTE came out of its box pre-installed with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Android 5.0 Lollipop is reportedly rolling out for the device soon, but users can opt out of this update. After all, they can skip it and upgrade immediately to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the CM13.
