Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Beats Apple iPhone 5S and 5C on Longer Battery Life in Call Time and Internet Usage
Three Android smartphones beat Apple's new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in terms of battery life based on call time minutes and Internet minutes usage. Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and Galaxy S4 Mini edged both iPhones with longer lasting battery performance.
iPhone 5S: Best in Performance but Lacks Battery Life
Which? Tech Daily made its own battery test on eight smartphones running different operating systems to show if the iPhone 5S is the best for battery life. Apple's iPhone 5S is the most powerful smartphone in the market right now but that power seems to come with a high price - battery life.
A series of battery tests have been performed on eight flagship smartphones from Apple, Blackberry, HTC, Nokia and Samsung to determine the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C battery endurance.
Lab experts checked battery capacity and limitations in each smartphone based on duration of making calls and browsing the Net using 3G connectivity.
Which? Tech Daily Battery Test
The Web site tested the battery life using their phone network simulator which puts the signal strength in a constant and same level every time among all the subjected smartphones. Lab testers also set the screen brightness on each smartphone at the same level that is classified as "readable level" instead of maximum to avoid penalising devices with brighter displays. And the entire selected flagship smartphones were fully charged and then discharged as a final conditioning.
The lab experts tested the smartphones using continuous calls, regular updates on Web pages over 3G and other different activities since owners are not using these devices for call and browsing only.

Which? Tech Daily detailed battery life vs portability size of smartphones which gave out specific differences in the results. The Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S are both premium, high-powered smartphones but S4 aced the 5S in screen size. A large 5-inch screen should drain a lot of power but due to its larger body, a bigger battery pack can occupy the back space and that's why the Galaxy S4 has 2,600 mAh battery compared to the 1,560 mAh on the iPhone 5S.
It is also obvious with the HTC One, the Galaxy S4 Mini and the HTC One Mini with 2,300, 1,900 and 1,800 mAh respective battery capacity that are bigger than the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
Smartphone enthusiasts will have to choose between bigger sizes for larger battery packs on Android or more compact body but smaller battery units on the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
Unfortunately, LG, Motorola, Sony and Nexus flagship smartphones are not included in the list, and it is unknown why they have been excluded. But the test was intended to show how long lasting the battery of Apple's new iPhone smartphones is.
