It is not surprising as companies continue to put out high performing and sleek Android mobile platforms. We count down some of the most powerful Android devices today.

Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 runs with the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 processor. The processor alone makes the Samsung Galaxy S4 one of the best smartphones for gaming. This is also according to CNET's test against two gaming tools: Futuremarks' 3DMark and Kishonti's GLBenchmark 2.7. These tools test or "stress" the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) of handsets. The Galaxy S4 also comes with a Qualcomm Adreno 320 (single-core).

According to 3DMark results, the Samsung Galaxy S4 eases through the test with flying colors. It even performed better than the Nexus 10. The Nexus 10 is one of the fasted Android tablet around. While Samsung's flagship share a similar processor to HTC One it is 200MHz faster.

According to GLBenchmark results, the GS4 can be considered as the fastest smartphone with other devices running at 1080p. The iPad 4 still beats it slightly but this is a countdown for the most powerful Android platforms. The Samsung Galaxy S4 also beats the iPhone 5 according to the benchmark results. The Samsung Galaxy S4 also has excellent resolution at 1,920x1,080.

LG Google Nexus 5

Google is no stranger to releasing some of the most powerful Android devices around. Its latest flagship phone is no different. The LG Google Nexus 5 is also a powerhouse platform. The Nexus 5 runs on a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 with an Adreno 330 GPU. The Nexus 5 does away with the system-intensive or demanding apps found on the Galaxy S4.

According to Tech Radar, the device runs excellently. People can go through the apps and back to the home screen without problems. There are also no performance issues except for the camera. There are also no lags offering an incredible overall user experience.

According to Geekbench 3 tests, the Nexus 5 scored 2300 which is better compared to the iPhone 5s and the iPad Mini 2. Analysts say the Nexus 5 performance is due to Android 4.4 KitKat. Google has designed KitKat focusing on backwards compatibility. Android 4.4 KitKat is intended to perform well even on older hardware. What more if it is running on a device that has specs built specifically for it. The device offers 1920 x 1080 resolution including 445ppi for excellent viewing experience.

Sony Xperia Z1

The Sony Xperia Z1 runs on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 800 processor. The quad-core chip clocks at an impressive 2.2GHz. This is a considerable improvement from the 1.9GHz inside the Galaxy S4. According to benchmark tests, the Z1 is a monster in performance. Geekbench 2 benchmark test results gave Z1 a score of 3,706. This is higher compared to the 3,087 of the Samsung Galaxy S4. As for the Quadrant benchmark, the Xperia Z1 gained a score of 17,825. This is a higher to the 11,381 of the Samsung Galaxy S4. People can expect excellent gaming experience from the Sony Xperia Z1. The Sony Xperia Z1 offers a resolution support at 1080 x 1920 pixels and 441ppi.
