Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega Receiving Android 4.4

A report revealed Samsung Knox Security software document listing some Galaxy smartphones which are eligible to get Android 4.4 KitKat and it includes both Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega.

SamMobile got a screenshot from one of their trusted insiders of an internal document from Samsung Knox Security suite which includes confirmed devices getting Android 4.4 KitKat. Samsung Knox Security software will become a preloaded app on both Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega running Android 4.4 version.

However, the document didn't reveal which among the two variants of Galaxy Mega is eligible and hopefully both devices may receive an update. Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 are also listed on the document with Knox Security but running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

A Samsung UK customer service representative somehow revealed that the company is already started preparation of early stages with Android 4.4 KitKat during a conversion with an XDA developer forum member asking the regional lock SIM strategy of Samsung.

Schedule listed on the document is still subject for any changes in the future which means Galaxy S3 and Note 2 Android 4.3 status may get some adjustments before 2013 ends.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Ends Life Cycle

Owner of the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini are not so lucky with Android 4.4 KitKat or Knox Security suite. According to the leaked document, Galaxy S3 Mini is not getting both Android 4.4 KitKat firmware and Knox Security application or even Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The handset currently runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Samsung didn't announce any possible 4.2 or 4.3 Jelly Bean for the device which makes owners depend on custom ROMs to get the latest features.

Early reports from SamMobile listed the Galaxy S3 Mini to end its life cycle on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and at that time, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie was still on the board but everything changed when Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat.

Since the schedule is subject to future changes, there is a slim chance that Galaxy S3 Mini may at least get Android 4.2 or 4.3, probably by 2014.
