Google has been on a roll with its release of the Android 4.4 KitKat update. The Android 4.4 KitKat is no longer just available on Google Nexus devices. The internet giant has started rolling out the OS update on a range of Samsung Galaxy devices. According to recent reports, it seems the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 lines will be receiving the update as well.

Phone manufacturers have been attempting to outdo one another in terms of the Android 4.4 KitKat update. Motorola and HTC have been one of the first to get in line announcing their plans to roll out the OS update on their devices. Samsung has not said as much but it seems the Korean tech giant has been working on rolling out the update on its devices slowly.

However, it is important to understand the range of devices that Samsung has. For instance, it has a multitude of handsets and phablets coming in different sizes. The good news is that Google made sure Android 4.4 KitKat can support devices with smaller memory. This should mean the OS update can reach as many handsets as possible.

According to a report by iTechAddit, the Korean tech giant will begin rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will receive the official update sometime around April 2014.

Samsung has not provided an official announcement concerning the devices mentioned including how users can update their devices officially. There is also the matter of different carriers ruling over a number of Samsung devices. Some carriers have to coordinate with the manufacturer first before they start releasing updates to their subscribers. This can be a point of conflict for some.

As for people who cannot wait for the official updates and announcements there are hack tools and custom ROMS available online. There are online communities and forums giving tips and tricks on how to update their devices based on custom ROMS. A word of caution to users though, their device warranties can be voided once they unlock and flash their devices.
