Google's Android 4.4.4 KitKat has started rolling out to a number of devices but manufacturers like Samsung has yet to complete the release of the Android 4.4.2 firmware. According to recent information, Samsung will be completing the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update of devices like Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Grand 2 among others this month.
According to a leaked document, Samsung has been preparing for the release of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for devices like the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Grand 2 Duos, Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. Just About Phones reported that an insider from India obtained a leaked document saying that Samsung completed testing the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware.
More importantly, reports note that the leaked document may only pertain to India although roll out in the region can also mean roll out in other areas or soon to be release. The leaked document also shows that Android 4.4.2 KitKat testing has been finished for dual-sim variants of SM-G7102 and GT-I9152 or Galaxy Grand 2 and the Galaxy Mega 5.8. There are no indications if single-SIM editions will get the Android 4.4.2 firmware.
The leaked document also suggests that although Samsung has tested the firmware on the Galaxy Note III and has started released, the international edition, Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300), will be get the firmware. Samsung has also completed the Android 4.4 KitKat testing for Galaxy Mega 6.3 last May. Nonetheless, it has only started releasing the update with Russia as among the first regions according to NDTV. Previously, it was noted that he Samsung Galaxy S4 active should be receiving the program depending on the region and network of users.
It may take some time for Samsung Galaxy users to receive the firmware. Samsung rolls out in stages and some carriers have to tweak the code to match their current offerings. It is best for users to wait for the notification or confirm with their carriers.
