The much awaited Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will be arriving in Australian shores in the coming months with a quite expensive price.

Samsung Electronics recently launched the miniature version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 after months of consumers' speculations and anticipation.

"We appreciate such unprecedented demands for the Galaxy S4 that we aimed to provide users with life companion for a fuller, richer and simpler life," said JK Shin, CEO and president of IT & Mobile Communication Division at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Australia confirmed to AusDroid that the Galaxy S4 Mini will arrive in Australia in the coming months and will release more information about the availability of the smartphone soon.

However, the device is reported to be available in UK. UK retailer Handtec started accepting preorders for the handset at the price of £389.99 or AU$646.

Samsung is yet to reveal the price of Galaxy S4 Mini. However, if the price published by Handtec proved to be true, the handset is quite expensive compared to its predecessor.

At nearly AU$650, the Galaxy S4 Mini is certainly too expensive for what it offers, especially when you consider the fact that smartphones such as the Sony Xperia Z or the HTC One costs around 10 percent extra and are so much better.

We suspect that the S4 Mini will, like its predecessor, see a rapid fall in its price over the next few months. You can now purchase the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini for as little as £199 or AU$330.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini packs a 1.7.GHz dual-core processor alongside Google's Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. It also features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini hosts an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.9-megapixel front cam. The device also sports TouchWiz UI, the S4 Mini adds 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. S4 Mini has a 1900mAh Lithium-Ion battery.
