Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini may be launched this week.

Samsung-centric website SamMobile published a report that consumers will see a Galaxy S4 Mini by the end of the week. The website cited sources saying that Samsung "wants" to introduce the S4 Mini this week as all the smartphone's details are now public domain with a shipping window starting towards the end of next month.

Senior Vice President at Samsung Electronics Lee Keon Hyok somehow confirmed the rumour last week. He talked to BusinessWeek and said that, "the Galaxy S 4 doesn't come out until late April. It's fast, has a big, bright screen, and will probably be another huge hit for Samsung, as will the S4 mini that will go on sale soon after".

The leaked specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini showed that the smartphone may be at par with iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.

Earlier leaks claimed that the device would be launching in multiple versions with a 4.3in display and up to quad-core processor depending on model: a dual-SIM version, which will likely not launch in the UK, would feature a dual-core processor, while a single-sim version supporting either 3G HSPA+ or 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity would include a quad-core chip. All versions, however, would include the same 4.3in Super AMOLED qHD display with a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch (PPI).

While Samsung is disclosing its plans to launch a Galaxy S4 Mini, SamMobile claims to have word that it will be announcing the device later this week - with a view to releasing the device towards the end of May or the start of June. According to the site's anonymous source, the handset will be available in two colours at launch: Black Mist and White Frost.

Purported Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini from Russia have already been leaked to SamMobile showing rounded corners and a svelte bezel. The new smartphone will hardly sport a "mini" chassis though if rumoured specs are to be believed.

It is tipped to have a 4.3in Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, which incidentally is the first time we've seen that resolution on any Samsung handset. It will apparently run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with an 8-megapixel rear camera and Samsung's own Touch Wiz Nature user interface.

The Galaxy S4 Mini DUOS, which reports claimed will be known as the GT-I9192, will come with a dual-core system-on-chip, while the S4 Mini (single SIM card slot model known as the GT-I9190) will come with a quad-core SoC. We suspect that it will come with a microSD card slot ant and with either 8GB, 16GB or 32GB onboard storage.
