Official Android 4.4 KitKat from Samsung goes expanded and may include push updates for Galaxy S3 Mini and Galaxy S Advance. However, owners of the Galaxy S, S2, S2 Mini and Note 1 are not included In this batch to get Android 4.4 KitKat.

Android 4.4 for Galaxy S3 Mini and S Advance

Samsung is considering on expanding Android 4.4 KitKat updates to various mid-range and low-cost smartphones including Galaxy S3 Mini and Galaxy S Advance. Sam Mobile revealed an internal document listing several smartphones which may be blessed by Android 4.4 KitKat.

According to the leaked document, Samsung is investigating the possibility of upgrading Galaxy Ace 2 and 3, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Fresh low-cost smartphone models to Android 4.4 KitKat. Moreover, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3 Mini and Galaxy S Advance are also included as possible recipients of the latest Android version.

The brand names and model numbers listed on the leaked document are as follows:

- Galaxy S4 Mini GT-I9190

- Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190

- Galaxy Ace 3 GT-S7270

- Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070

- Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160

- Galaxy Core GT-I8262

- Galaxy Fame GT-S6810

- Galaxy Fresh GT-S7390.

If the upgrade pushes through, owners of these smartphones will benefit from optimisation of low memory such as 512 MB RAM, better multi-tasking, enhanced processing functionalities, Ok Google feature and improved lock screen.

Galaxy S2, Galaxy S2 Mini Galaxy S and Galaxy Note I Missing

Unfortunately, owners of Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S smartphones cannot expect any Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade, especially since hope of getting an upgrade was smashed by the exlusion of their mobile devices in the leaked internal document. Both smartphones, as former flagship devices, can run Android 4.4 KitKat and are much more powerful than Galaxy Ace 2 which has been included in the list.

Since the document hints at an expanded Android 4.4 upgrade, there may be another batch coming up after the first one in 2014. Several devices are still missing with a major update such as earlier Galaxy Tabs, Galaxy S2 Mini and the first generation Galaxy Note.

No one can confirm yet if Samsung is going to push a new firmware for the selected devices but what's for sure is that the company may be reconsidering.
