New rumours claimed that Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will probably be released around the same time as Apple's budget smartphone, dubbed as the iPhone 5S.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini launch is speculated to be in June, which is also the rumoured release date of iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S.

If the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will be released in June, it will battle head on with Apple's iPhone, which is set to be released around the same time. There are rumours claiming that Apple is planning to launch its flagship phone this summer. It seems that Samsung wants to take a bite on Apple's sales.

If rumours proved to be true, an intense battle should be anticipated this summer between rival companies Apple and Samsung and consumers will weigh the pros and cons of buying their smartphone of choice. Both devices will have the friendly price tag that will lure consumers. However, which will appeal more to buyers?

Below is the comparison of the rumoured specs and features of Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and iPhone 5S.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini

Earlier leaks claimed that the device would be launching in multiple versions with a 4.3in display and up to quad-core processor depending on model: a dual-SIM version, which will likely not launch in the UK, would feature a dual-core processor, while a single-sim version supporting either 3G HSPA+ or 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity would include a quad-core chip. All versions, however, would include the same 4.3in Super AMOLED qHD display with a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch (PPI).

While Samsung is disclosing its plans to launch a Galaxy S4 Mini, SamMobile claims to have word that it will be announcing the device later this week - with a view to releasing the device towards the end of May or the start of June. According to the site's anonymous source, the handset will be available in two colours at launch: Black Mist and White Frost.

iPhone 5S

iPhone 5S or 6 would feature a hybrid chassis made of both plastic and metal. "No, it won't just be a Retina- and Lightning-equipped refresh of the iPhone 3G or 3GS, Apple's last plastic iPhones, nor will it look just like an all-plastic version of the iPhone 5. This new model is actually a cross between the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch and the iPod classic. It will have a 4" screen, like the iPhone 5, a bottom like the latest iPod touch and a shape that is most similar to the iPod classic."

In terms of specs and features, consumers can expect that the low cost iPhone will have some of the specifications of either iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4.

However, both tech companies declined to comment on the rumours surrounding their respective devices.
