Latest leaked document revealed that Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will receive Android 4.4 KitKat OS update in January next year while the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 may receive the upgrade in April.

A memo picked up by iTechAddict listed the estimate roll out dates of the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update on some of the famous Samsung smartphones. The memo is reported to come from Samsung India's R&D department.

It is hard to verify the authenticity of the document. If the document is real, it seems that users who own such devices will have to wait a little longer for the Android KitKat update. One of the problems faced by Samsung in rolling out the upgrade is the integration of TouchWiz UI in Samsung.

Another possible reason for delay is the reported Google Play Store update last week. The refresh in the Play Store is an attempt to improve the Android tablet experience. Google announced that the tablet-optimised apps will be more visible for those browsing the Play store.

Google unveiled the Android 4.4 KitKat OS alongside the Google Nexus 5 early this month. The company already rolled out the Android 4.4 KitKat software update for Nexus 4, 7 and 10 last week and Google Play Edition smartphones will soon receive the same chocolatey treatment.

Currently, Samsung and various carriers are already rolling out the 4.3 Jelly Bean OS update for different Samsung smartphones. However, users of Samsung Galaxy S3 were reported to be plagued with issues after updating their devices. Some users complained about the handset become unresponsive after the users downloaded and installed the update, especially the lock screen. Moreover, the update depletes the battery life of the smartphone. Other problems included a patchy Wi-Fi connection or the handset locking up completely needing the battery to be pulled to restart the device.

Thus, latest reports claimed that the roll out of the update is temporarily halted. "As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended. We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility," Samsung UK announced last week.
