Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. HTC M7: Which Android Smartphone is Worth Waiting For?
Two of the much awaited Android smartphones that will battle against this year are Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC M7.
Samsung Galaxy S4 is rumored to boast a massive 5-inch display which throws it right into the phablet category. It will also have a 13MP rear camera, a bigger battery and the new EXYNOS 5440 quad-core processor, which will make the device thicker.
The Galaxy S4 is pegged for release on either the second or third quarter of the year as it is planning for a head start over its rival - iPhone 6. Samsung confirmed that the much awaited smartphone will be released post May of this year.
Moreover, Samsung announced some great new technologies it has been developing under its wing at the CES event that will be possibly included in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4.
Two of the technologies announced by the tech giant from South Korean are the 8-core processor and flexible displays. Samsung confirmed that the technology is almost ready to be used and should appear on upcoming smartphones and tablets including the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Samsung Galaxy S4 will come up against HTC M7. According to the past rumours, HTC M7 will be powered by 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM. It will have 32GB of internal storage. HTC M7 is also expected to come with 13-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera.
It is speculated that if the buzz worthy HTC M7 will make a no-show in the ongoing CES, we may see the device next month packed the latest Androidv4.2 Jelly Bean.
Rumour has it that HTC will release the device in either of the two big tech conventions, CES and MWC. Some of the features of the device already leaked online. The HTC M7 is said to run with the latest version of Jelly Bean similar to the OS of LG Nexus 4. HTC is also expected to add a layer of HTC Sense 5.0 on this smartphone.
So far, HTC and Samsung are keeping everyone excited as they keep all the details to themselves. Below is the comparison of the two unannounced devices this 2013.
Screen Display - Samsung Galaxy S4 will sport 5 inches Super AMOLED touchscreen with 1080x1920 pixel resolutions. HTC M7 will have 4.7 inches 1080p display.
Processor - Samsung Galaxy S4 is rumoured to have 8-core processor paired with 2GB RAM. On the other hand, HTC M7 will be powered by quad-core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM.
Operating System - Both devices are rumoured to come with 4.2 version of the Jelly Bean OS. Samsung Galaxy S4, however, is speculated to run with the upcoming version of the Android OS - Key Lime Pie.
Internal Storage - Samsung Galaxy S3's successor will have 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage with additional storage through microSD slot. HTC's upcoming smartphone is speculated to come with 32GB of internal storage.
4G/LTE - Both devices will support 4G/LTE connectivity.
NFC - Both smartphones will be capable of Near Field Communication.
Camera - Both devices are speculated to come with 13MP rear camera.
Battery - HTC M7 is rumoured to have a 2300mAh battery; while Samsung Galaxy S4 is alleged to have 3100mAh battery pack.
Release Date - Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S4 is set to be released post May 2013. HTC M7, on the other hand, may make an appearance on MWC tech event in February.
