Samsung Galaxy S5 Features to Include Foldable Screen Display With 2,560 x 1,440 Resolution, Samsung Hints
Samsung suggested that Galaxy S5 features may include a foldable screen display boasting a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution.
Samsung itself hinted the inclusion of such a feature on its annual Analyst Day. Samsung suggested that it will introduce the world's first Ultra High Definition 4K smartphones as early as 2015. Samsumg also hinted that 2,560 x 1,440 WQHD panels may make its debut on the Samsung Galaxy S5 next year, according to Trusted Reviews.
The slideshow presented by the manufacturer in the event also revealed that upcoming Samsung devices will pack display panels with 560 ppi resolution.
In the same event, Samsung made clear that it plans to introduce mobile devices that can be folded. The South Korean tech company did not reveal much about the technology, but it was previously reported that Samsung and LG were working on bendable screen displays. According to Samsung, foldable screen displays can be achieved once it overcomes technology barriers. The company, again, did not elaborate what these barriers are. However, inclusion of such a feature is expected to be in its 2015 line up.
The aforementioned foldable screen displays is supported by a recently filed patent showing a tri-fold flexible display, an info picked up by PatentBolt and reported by Android Authority. The new flexible displays are expected to replace the traditional LCD displays in current Samsung devices by 2015-2016.
This technology opens a lot of possibilities in Samsung devices. Although unspecified by Samsung, the company can now make a tablet that can be transformed into a smartphone when folded.
According to rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will pack a 64-bit chip processor and fingerprint sensor. However, some reports claimed that the smartphone will have a futuristic eye scanner.
ET News also claimed that the next generation of Samsung smartphones, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 4, will all include a 16-MP camera as a standard issue. Also, along with a boosted battery life, the Samsung Galaxy S5 may come pre-installed with Android 4.4 KitKat that will herald new and improved features.
