Recent rumours teased Samsung fans that the upcoming Galaxy S5 will bring forth a metal built and will finally bid goodbye to its usual plastic casing. However, a new report suggests that the device will be stuck with plastic body after all.

When Samsung Galaxy J hit the market, Samsung fans were delighted that the company finally embraced metal casing on its products. There is a glimmer of hope that the same metal body will land on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5.

However, a new report from DigiTimes stated that Samsung suppliers of chassis based in Taiwan have not begun mass production on a metal chassis for a Galaxy S5. The report cited unnamed insiders saying that Samsung is "still evaluating" whether to use a metal chassis for its high-end smartphones, but that it seems that the company is not yet ready to implement such solution for its upcoming Galaxy S device, which is bound sometime during the first quarter 2014.

The sources went on saying that Samsung may not go with metal casing for Galaxy S5 as metal components will increase the production cost as well as the price of the device. The report also said that instead of metal, Samsung is more likely to use plastic combined with carbon fiber or fiberglass for its smartphone chassis.

However, Samsung has managed to compete with its rival Apple with its own current Galaxy S designs, suggesting that consumers might not care that the devices have plastic shells. Many consumers were turned off when Samsung Galaxy S4 packed the same, old plastic casing.

Early this week, reports claimed Samsung saying the company is already developing qHD screen displays with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution as well as iris scanner for its upcoming devices. The report added that Samsung is toying with Tizen OS. This could mean that Samsung Galaxy S5 may not run with Android 4.4 Kitkat OS although many Samsung fans are hoping to see this feature in the S5.

Other Samsung Galaxy S5 rumoured features are 14nm 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU and 16MP ISOCELL camera as well as 4,000 mAh battery life. Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is speculated to be held early next year either at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January or at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February.
