The Samsung Galaxy S5 was released last year and we now hear it’ll receive the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in 2016. Until then, Samsung promises monthly security updates for many of its high-end smartphones, including the S5.

The South Korean Company has started issuing new updates for the smartphone that adds a security patch along with other improvements. As of now, the update is available for users in Europe but will soon be available in other regions.

Reports in the official changelog show the new upgrade to the Galaxy S5 should improve the Smart Manager and boost FOTA speed. There will be further additions to Android’s regular security patces.

The update, however, is about 206 MB size so make sure your phone has sufficient space for it, reports Softpedia.

The maintenance update adds to performance by means of efficient system management. The idea is to accelerate existing features and include new functions to help boost smartphone performance.

The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is expected to bring a host of new features to the S5. As of now, the phone continues to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop but Samsung plans to upgrade it to Marshmallow.

After installing the latest update, you’ll notice a new security patch dated November 1. It indicates the December security patch will arrive in January. Once the update is done, you’ll notice improved changes in your smartphone.

The update doesn’t interfere with the existing Android version, which means the smartphone will still have Android 5.0 Lollipop running at its core. The remarkable differences are the added features and more usability functions.
