Samsung Galaxy S5 release date may be set in January 2014 and will be available for purchase the following month, according to Korean Web site Naver.

Korean news daily Naver asserts that Samsung will announce the device in January and will be on sale through carriers and retailers in February.

If the report holds some truth, it is possible that Samsung Galaxy S5 will make an appearance in the upcoming CES event in Las Vegas.

The report claimed that the early release of Samsung Galaxy S5 will make up for the weak sales of the current Samsung Galaxy S4. It was first reported that Samsung Galaxy S5 will arrive in March just like the Galaxy S4.

However, it is most likely that Samsung will hold an elaborate launching event for its upcoming flagship phone.

According to the latest rumours, Samsung Galaxy S5 will be dustproof and water-resistant just like its rival Sony Xperia Z. Other rumours stated that Galaxy S5 will retain the Samsung Galaxy S4's existing back camera. However, the company is reported to improve the camera lens that will yield on better quality photos.

Reports also said that Samsung is testing flexible displays that are expected to come on future devices. Galaxy S5 may increase the size of its screen display. Many concept images of the device boast edge-to-edge screen without increasing the already large overall size of the smartphone. All of these features will be housed in a metal casing as Samsung will be ditching its conventional plastic housing.

Other amazing specs and features coming on Samsung Galaxy S5 are 64-bit processor, Android 4.4 KitKat OS, fingerprint sensor and longer battery life. However, 64-bit processor and fingerprint sensor may face production issues and consumers may not see it in the Samsung Galaxy S5.

However, the South Korean tech company neither confirmed nor denied the aforementioned rumours surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S5.
